What up yall… long time no post, Dumbo’s been a busy busy busy boy, but I think I got something thats worth the wait: The New Style. This latest mix is my magnum opus of mixing so far, I’m super proud of it. This is the first mix I’ve done that is absolutely perfect, and has gone through a lot of toying and tinkering, not to mention it was an absolute bitch to record without fucking up! It may sound like it was recorded in Ableton… but no my friends this is pure unadulterated Traktor Pro put to its limits. The reason it’s called “The New Style” is because I do a lot of 3/4 deck stuff, and the mixing technique isn’t the back-and-forth method used by a lot of DJs. This mix is really one big mash-up, and one song isn’t playing by itself for very long. It’s primarily house (dutch, electro, fidget, and the like) and I drop a nasty ass dubstep bit with some Dumbo Bootlegs at the end. While this is semi-ravey, it’s more meant for a club environment like the Avalon or Voyeur. Even if you don’t like house and all that rave shit, just listen to it at the gym, you feel like your running for your life its euphoric. This mix is really some next level shit for me, I really couldn’t be happier with it. If you download absolutely anything on this site, I implore you to download this I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Tracklist after the jump!
Hey y’all, I do a radio show on Thursday mornings on WSPN 91.1 Skidmore Radio and last night (this morning?) I decided to just mix the whole time. I also decided to record it, just for fun, so here is the mix in two parts! Part 1 is half disco house half prog house and I’m, like super happy with it. The levels are a little off on some of the earlier songs but I think the prog part (which isn’t my forte) sounds really cool. Part 2 is a little more my usual style, lots of dutch and electro house so you guys will really dig that. WARNING: These were all freestyled so there are a few little errors but nothing to glaring. Do enjoy though! I was fully rocking the fuck out when I did em. Tracklist after the jump? Yea…I guess…
Holy shit, the DJM-2000 has been released. The implications of this mixer are fucking immense, as indicated by the title of this post. Multi-Touch Kaossilator-esque Effects Display/MIDI-Controller/8-Channel EQ?!?!?!??! TWO OTHER EFFECTS OPTIONS?! This is truly a “no-fucking-way” moment. Consider this: Serato announced Ableton “Bridge” which lets you launch Ableton scenes within Serato, and scratch with them (so fucking ill!!!!). This Multi-Touch Midi-Controller will be used for some diiirrrty diiirrrrrty things with the Ableton/Serato chimera, I cannot wait to see what Laidback Luke, A-Trak, Boys Noize, etc. pull off with this shit. I need to get three grand together stat!
Well at least I’ll be able too as soon as this ill ass track is released. Sweet Light is one of my favorite tracks on POWER, and the fact that Boris Dlugosch came through with a banger is awesome (the Transmission remixes were a little weak in my opinion). It sounds like Boris has made one of those songs you just can’t get enough of, and I’m still utterly addicted to Bangkok (and Bangduck for that matter). Check out this video and keep your eyes peeled for this songs release (and subsequent posting on this here blog).
Our own Ramses will be seeing this live at Hard New York, but at least I’ll get to hear all the new Jack Beats tracks at Hard 13 this weekend. MUAHAHAHAHAHA! But seriously Dan, fuck you for going to Hard New York I’m incredibly jealous. I hope Skerrit Boy busts a nut on you.
Angger Dimas is the man behind the club mix of my favorite Dutch House song, “She Got It” by Vandalism (see obnoxious picture). Any time I’ve played “She Got It,” right on the drop the crowd starts laughing and dancing like crazy because they’ve never heard a song like it before, here’s another one just like it. Throw your freakin’ hands up, homies.
This might be my favorite song. Not “Favorite of the Moment” but literally favorite song. This song is excellent all the way through, section to section, drop to drop, buildup to fade out. Every moment of this song is extremely well produced.
This song rules, our friends at Apes With Barrels posted this man’s whole album but here’s my favorite track. “Learn to Recycle” starts out slow, gets faster, then goes Drum n Bass…what?! Yes.
Chilly Gonzales lays down a ridiculous mixtape of his own piano playing over some rather famous hip hop toons. Really give this a good listen, it’s only 28 minutes which in mixtape time is chump change. More Chilly after the jump if you wanna know more.
