Just like our economy, the genre of Hip-Hop is trying to recover from a recession. But instead of inflated bailouts, we’ve got new artists trying to create their own, unique model of Hip-Hop. The new thing to do is claim you’re like no one else, i.e. (Kid Cudi, Charles Hamilton, Asher Roth, and now Wiz Khalifa), and try to force your own brand of Hip-Hop. In this case Wiz is trying to bring back the art of the freestyle which is a daunting task for anyone. While I respect the skill behind a freestyle, only the most skilled can really create something substantive on the go, and really the freestyle game is now just a memorization game, and stringing together lines that one has thought of before said freestyle battle. REGARDLESS, WK spits something raunchy over this track and if anyone can bring back Freestyling, it’s Wiz Khalifa. Enjoy the “Off-the-Dome” Gravy.
