09.Aug.2009 8-8-09, The Day HARD Died

Holy shit guys, the one thing I’ve been looking forward too for the past month ended up being a frightening clusterfuck, possibly the biggest boner kill of the century. It was weird I had this weird anxiety the entire day before, and it was for good reason. Got there at 8 when the doors opened, got in line for will call, and waited in line for a fucking hour to get my tickets. Meet up with my homie in line, and our line gets shut down for like twenty minutes because these stupid ass kids tore down the fence so they could get in. I get in to see all the lights on, and a bunch of stupid ass kids jumping off balconies so they could get to the floor (see video, it was fucking scary). Fire Marshall shuts it down at around 11, bring in riot police, and I got out of there real quick. It was really fucking gay, this was supposed to be such an awesome night and it ended up being the worst “rave” (if you can even call it that) I’ve ever been too. This could be the end of the HARD promotion team, which is a damn shame. I dont see them getting invited back to the Forum for HARD Haunted, and I’d be amazed if they didn’t go bankrupt giving everyone a refund, paying for the riot squad/ambulances, and all the liability shit from all the people who fucked themselves up. Absolute fiasco, its a sign the scene is growing to fast. I hope you redeem yourselves boys.

atrak @avick I wouldn’t say heartbreaking, no. I’ve seen this stuff happen before. I just feel bad for the kids who bought tickets.

So apparently HARD is giving everyone refunds, I haven’t received mine yet. I’ve been so bummed out all day, like there’s no way HARD can come back from this. The whole allure of HARD events for me were that they were small, not a huge massive like EDC, and they pulled the best artists. The lineup (Justice DJ Set, Basement Jaxx, Atrak, Burakka Som Sistema) for Hard Haunted (if it happens) doesn’t even touch the Hard Summer line up. The Shrine is the absolute best venue, Hard Haunted and Hard 13 have been my favorite raves to date. I understand the scene is growing, but I’m not so sure thats a good thing, case and point Saturday night. Even if Hard Haunted is at another  venue, whose to say retards won’t show up and fuck shit up at the Nos Center or some other shitty venue. But the worst part about all of this is, I can’t resist giving them a chance to redeem themselves.
