Holy shit, you thought this blog was dead! Well, the Vickman is back to deliver some nastiness to you guys. So let me tell you guys about my weekend. I went to Hard Haunted Mansion…. both nights….. and then turned 21 on Monday. Epic doesn’t even begin to describe. This post is Part 1 because I didn’t want to make the post too long, representing Monsieur Atraks monumental set.
Who’da thunk that the oh so sassy Yeah Yeah Yeahs would become electroblog fodder. Well their song Heads Will Roll has generated so many techno remixes, its a tad ridiculous. Here are a few:
Pretty awesome, probably my second favorite of the batch. I’ve been really getting into Dan Oh ever since I saw him at the Avalon w/ Wolfgang Gartner (oh. my. god. what a show!) with JGNP’s own Darnell. He’s a pretty sick producer, this song kinda has a Foamo-ey vibe. It has the dubstep wonk with that oh so recognizable synth line. I dropped it in my set last night, everybody went pretty nutso.
Okay, have to apologize in advance for this being a radio-rip, but it was too good to not post. Definetly my favorite remix of the song, hands down, one of A-trak’s best remixs. When A-trak makes a great remix, I feel like changing any part of it would fuck the whole thing, its just so perfect. The last phrase of the song is the fucking best part, he like cuts up a synth line and layers back the beat its insane. I truly cannot wait for him to drop this at Hard Haunted. I can’t wait to find a mixable version of this song, it would truly cause heads to roll on the floor. Download this fucking tune.
Wow, I haven’t posted for a minute this shit probably looks like a hip hop blog, Darnell and I need to step up our efforts. This video is absolutely nuts, and the dude in the wheelchair is the icing on the cake. Not gunna lie, definitely have been emulating this on the vci with cue points (how the fuck does atrak do that manually?!), I suggest you do the same its tight as fuck. I found this on Atrak’s twitter and apparently he goes into the Jack Beats remix of Mars:
Well guess whose got a radio-rip bitches. I do! And I must say it might be my favorite Jack Beats song, its on a Jack Got Jacked level. I hope you enjoy, and get ready for a new Dumbo mix, posted tomorrow. I’m doing a fat ass party tonight, and I’m gunna record my mix. It’s kind of a hybrid of the best parts of Get Dumb! and this new mix I was working on, I’m excited to see how it goes. Enjoy!
That makes two @atrak twitter moments. Fuck yeah! Follow me at @avick if you want to revel with me. Its so fun to follow my idol dj superstars, and every once in awhile shit like THIS happens.
This time around, I have Audio Two with 1988’s Top Billin’. This song has been sampled three times that I’m aware of. The first and most noticeable is I Get Money. The hook and main vocal sample is lifted from a line in Top Billin’. The sample comes in at 1:03. The next is a song by Frank N Dank, which is used in a similar way to the I Get Money sample. That one comes in at 1:29. Finally, pretty much all of Uffie’s Pop the Glock bites the rhythm and lyrical content of Top Billin‘.
From Pop the Glock:
MC am I, people call me Uff
When I rock the party, you bust a nut
Feadz is breaking out the beat
Shit be hotter than, me
From Top Billin’
MC am I people call me Milk
When I’m bustin up a party I feel no guilt
Gizmo’s cuttin, up for the
Suckers that’s, down with meeee!!
Coincidence? I think not. I’ve also included a remix of Clap Hands for you to enjoy. Holla.
